September 15, 2010 Concord, NC – After nearly a month away from the track, Kathy Fisher of Performance by Fisher Racing is ready to hit the quarter-mile this weekend during the NHRA Carolina’s Nationals.
After arriving at the state-of-the-art facility, Fisher is quite impressed with all it has to offer.
"When we pulled in this afternoon, it is all that I have heard of and read about,” she stated.
“This event wasn’t on our original schedule, but due to my work as an on-camera talent, I have had to make several changes throughout the season,” she continued. “This will be a very special race for both me and my husband Kevin, who normally competes in Top Dragster. That class is not offered for this event, so he borrowed our friend’s dragster and will compete in Super Comp with me.”
One may note that the Fisher’s have not competed in the same class since the end of the 2007 season and to do so, so very close to the couple’s ten year wedding anniversary could make it very interesting.
“Oh no matter what, we’ll make it,” Fisher said as she laughed of the couple’s chances of meeting up on the track and putting a damper on the milestone anniversary. “We ran the same class for three full seasons and never once raced each other. We came close during a couple of events and honestly, I think it would be great.”
“Just not until later rounds, please,” she added.
During the weekend’s event in Concord, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte, they will both be competing in BBC powered dragsters injected with Dragon Racing Fuels Methanol.
“We made the switch to Dragon Racing Fuels late last season and have never looked back,” noted Fisher. “There is no room for any extra variables in our form of motorsports, let alone our class of drag racing. We win and lose by as little as ten-thousandths of a second. We need to know that each drum of fuel we use is just the same as the last.”
The national and divisional event winner hopes to add a North Carolina victory to her racing resume.
“I’ve had some great success over the years in this state and I love racing at new-to-me facilities,” she continued. “We are looking forward to using a whole lot of Dragon Racing Fuels this weekend.”
